Mini-Bell Towers appearing around the Square

GO BACK

Another project of the Tower View Team has been mini- Mahanay Bell Towers for the downtown.  Tower View Team member Marc McGinn constructed the mini-towers. Roger Aegerter talked to businesses who would like to sponsor the tower along with collaborating with an artist to paint the towers.

The first tower to appear is the one sponsored by Tri-County Lumber with artist Veda Sword creating the images.  Veda commented that she did a lot of research of old photos and iconic images of the area to create this piece.  Tower View Team members Deb & Marc McGinn and Roger Aegerter helped attach the mini-tower to a cement base located between the pillars on the east side of the downtown squares.

The second mini-bell tower arrived near Sally’s Alley on Lincoln Way on May 15.  Jefferson Telecom purchased this tower from the Tower View Team as the sponsor and worked with artist Tony Sims to create a stunning Iowa flag.  Tony has a local studio in Dana entitled Middle of Nowhere Studio.  His specialty is air-brushing.  This tower is located between the Pillar Planters near the entrance of Sally’s Alley.

The third mini-bell tower arrived on May 24 near Royal Jewelers & Prairie Blue Creative Arts.  The sponsor of this tower is Peoples Bank.  Matt Wetrich is the artist who painted this.  Matt incorporated his love of nature and birds with the banking world – especially Peoples Bank.  Be sure to walk around the square to admire these mini-bell towers.

A fourth mini-bell tower is planned for the north side of the square in front of the planned Arch Alley.  This tower is sponsored by the creator of the towers, Marc McGinn working with Tony Sims for a special design.  TVT – Wait ’til You See!
