Tree Walk May 4 at Spring Lake Park

Do you know the difference between an ash and an oak? Four local tree experts will lead a walk at Spring Lake Park focused on trees. Join Greene County Conservation Director Dan Towers, Spring Lake Park Ranger Joe Allen, Trees Forever’s Brad Riphagen, and Lynn Menz of the Jefferson Tree Committee at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 4, at the Lakeside Shelterhouse for an educational tree walk in Spring Lake Park. We are all surrounded by trees. They grow near our houses, in our neighborhoods, and in our communities. They make up our habitat. How many of us, though, stop and look at the trees around us? This free walk at Spring Lake is a chance to stop and notice the trees. We will consider species (bark and leaves), as well as growing conditions. It is a chance to learn all about trees, while enjoying a walk in the spring air. No registration required. Just bring your tree-related questions and your walking shoes. Sponsored by the Jefferson Tree Committee.
