Months of work yarn-bombing bicycles and bike rims has created a colorful display in downtown Jefferson. The Tower View Team from Jefferson Matters: Main Street is the group responsible with Amy Roberts leading the charge. Artists, both young and old, put their creative juices to work to welcome the many bicycle enthusiasts to Jefferson especially for the upcoming Pedaler’s Jamboree scheduled for Sept. 5.
Approximately 2,000 bikers will ride the Raccoon Valley Trail to Jefferson on Saturday stopping to enjoy live music at venues along with way. Music at Cooper will be from 3-5 p.m. so we can expect them to arrive late afternoon for the overnight stay.
Main Street restaurants are encouraged to make plans to feed many people as they come to town. With many visitors using social media, the reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor are important. Please continue to review our local businesses and have visiting friends and family do the same.
The yarn-bombed bicycles will be available by Silent Auction beginning on Aug. 22 with bid sheets at each location. These bikes will be moved prior to Sept. 5 to the Thomas Jefferson Gardens to complete the bidding. Proceeds will go to Alphabet Alley on the west side of the square.
