Rooftop Art Installed

There is now another reason to go to the top of the Mahanay Bell Tower – to see the first rooftop art installation!  The art design of Stephanie Hammond was attached to the rooftop of her parent’s business, Skeeter Creek Fabricators in downtown Jefferson.  This was a long term project of the Tower View Team, a committee from Jefferson Matters: Main Street.

A reception was held on Saturday, June 6 from 2-4 p.m. on the Bell Tower Plaza.  Don Van Gilder explained the project and introduced the artist to the large group attending.  Stephanie explained her work called “Renewed Dreams” and thanked Kathy Hankel and the late Diane Foster for encouraging her.  The red ribbon was cut, pictures were taken, and over 140 people rode the elevator to the top of the Bell Tower to view the installation.

The Tower View Team is led by Debra McGinn who has been instrumental in many other projects bringing people to Jefferson Main Street.  This group welcomes those interested to join their group to have fun and bring ideas like rooftop art to fruition.
