Windows: Restoration & Replacement

reinders1Interest is high for historic preservation of the buildings of Jefferson’s downtown.  The Design Committee of Jefferson Matters: Main Street has invited Main Street Iowa Design Consultant Tim Reinders to share his expertise on window restoration and replacement.  This event is called Business After Hours and will be held on Monday, October 24 at the Elk’s Lodge in Jefferson.  A cash bar and snacks will be available at 5:15 p.m.   Tim will begin his presentation at 5:45 and finish by 6:30 p.m. with time for questions.  Building owners in Jefferson’s Main Street District are particularly invited to attend this free event but anyone interested should please come.

Tim Reinders has been involved in a number of projects with Jefferson Matters: Main Street and is one of two consultants who conduct a design consultation for a Main Street District Building.  Building owners who have received design conceptuals through Main Street Iowa in the past year include Unger Insurance, RVP~1875, Doc’s Stadium, Sparetime Lanes, Jefferson Public Library, and Ace Hardware. Buildings acquired by the City of Jefferson have also had conceptual drawings completed – 200 E. State, 111 E Lincoln Way and 205 N Wilson. With these conceptual drawings, recommendations for window restoration or replacement along with façade improvements, color choices, ADA accessibility, signage, etc. are included. This free consultation is available to any Main Street District building. To date, nineteen downtown buildings have received this assistance. Program director Peg Raney shared that with so much interest in façade improvement, this led to working with the City of Jefferson on the Community Development Block Grant that was awarded for sixteen facades. Construction on these will begin in spring of 2017.

All interested are invited to attend this Business After Hours educational event sponsored by the Design Committee of Jefferson Matters: Main Street.
