Two remote workers receive memberships to work at Gravitate Coworking.

Two remote workers moving to Greene County have been awarded a Jefferson Wants You Incentive grant for a one year membership at Gravitate Coworking.

Alyssa Rhoades is locating in Jefferson but will continue working for Lincoln Federal Savings Bank in Lincoln, NE remotely.  She plans to work at Gravitate Coworking in a floating desk area three to five times a week.  Alyssa shared, “I look forward to working at Gravitate in my marketing position but also to meet some of my neighbors, other parents, and like-skilled individuals in the community.”

Clancy Clawson is also moving to Jefferson and is employed by College Board on a team responsible for the digital SAT tests.  He is working in one of the two private offices available at Gravitate Coworking,  so the awarded membership will go towards this plan. Clancy said in his application, “College Board is always looking for talented individuals.  My team in particular is looking for software engineers.”

The Jefferson Wants You Incentive Fund was created as part of the Rural Return Grant received as part of the Empower Rural Iowa Initiative.  A number of local utilities, financial institutions and a grant from Grow Greene County have provided the funding for this incentive fund with a local selection committee.

A one year membership at Gravitate Coworking has a value of $1200 for the Floating Membership.  Gravitate opened in 2021 and is located at 200 E State St.  The Floating Membership includes a 24/7 keycard access, a seat available every day and unlimited room bookings for the conference room space.  High-speed fiber internet, private phone booth, coffee, unlimited printing and copying are part of the benefits of the membership.  Dedicated desks and private office suites are also available at Jefferson’s Gravitate Coworking location. Matt Wetrich is the local contact for the Gravitate Coworking space and can answer specific questions about this location in downtown Jefferson.

Both current and new remote workers in Greene County are eligible to apply for the Jefferson Wants You Incentive Fund if they would plan to use the space at least 3 times a week.  The selection committee has set a goal of awarding eight more of these memberships this year.  Find the applications are www.experiencejeffersoniowa.com under the Move Here tab.
