On Sunday, September 18, over 70 people enjoyed the event highlighting the seven nominees for historical plaques in our downtown. Small groups were led around the square to meet these nominees and hear their stories. Following, all participants voted for the first one to receive the plaque on a downtown pillar. Funds for this plaque were received in a grant from the Greene County Community Foundation and applied for by Jefferson Matters: Main Street. A plaque costs $1,600 each. The plaque for Milligan Brothers Lumber, Grain & Coal will be funded personally by John & Kathy Milligan.
This event was co-sponsored by Jefferson Matters: Main Street and the Greene County Historical Society. Many thanks to the actors & actresses, group leaders and Deb McGinn who coordinated this event.
