Sid Jones is selected as the 2021 ABC Award Recipient

Sid Jones was presented the 2021 Above and Beyond the Call Award at the March 22 Community Appreciation Night at the Greene County High School Performing Arts Center. As tradition goes, Harry Ahrenholtz, last year’s recipient, presented the award. Sid Jones is CEO and Chairman of the Board at Home State Bank. He began at Home State Bank in 1983 and was President from 2009 to February of 2022. Sid is described as “easy going, very approachable, slow to judge and willing to take the time to listen” by a Home State Bank employee. “He encourages his employees to “have fun by participating in the Bell Tower Parade, children’s programs and much more.” Sid has been involved in the St. Joseph Catholic Church as a past chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee and current chair of the Finance Committee. He was a founding member of the church Endowment Committee. He is one of two church directors, is active in Mass participation, having been a lector. Sid has also served as treasurer of the Greene County School Foundation and was an “integral part of the successful effort to plan and build the new Greene County High School and Academy”. According to a nomination form, “he played the integral role in creating the framework for communicating the idea to the community. Many of the hallmarks of the school bond initiative came directly from Sid. His calm logical demeanor, coupled with his ability to create a shared vision were irreplaceable components of the bond initiative.” Sid served as a leader of the Greene County Early Learning Center fundraising steering committee, helping “identify potential business donors and making personal contacts resulting in major donations” to the new building project. Sid assisted with the Capital Campaign for the renovation and new addition to the Greene County Medical Center. For many years, Sid has served as the President of the Greene County Development Corporation (GCDC). Another nomination form stated, “It is because of Sid’s leadership that many dream projects have become reality.” For information about the ABC Award and how to nominate someone, contact Beth Vander Wilt at info@jeffersonmatters.org or (515) 386-2155.
