How to stay responsive with fundraising as a nonprofit in a changing environment

GO BACK

Grow Greene and ISU Greene County Extension are hosting a fundraising workshop for nonprofit staff and volunteers Thursday, September 24, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Midland Power Cooperative, 1005 E. Lincoln Way in Jefferson. The workshop focuses on using practices based on sound principles in order to increase and sustain fundraising efforts.

Instruction in this workshop will focus on applying strategies to identify, prospect, acquire and retain donors taking into account traditional tools as well as new avenues. Participants will learn effective management techniques for capital, annual and planned giving campaigns. They will explore how to incorporate proven techniques and utilize tools in campaign plans in order to increase engagement and grow their donor base. Through a blend of learning and practice activities participants will gain knowledge and hone their skills in sustainable fund development techniques to take back into their volunteer projects and organizations’ work places.

Lynn Adams is a development specialist with Iowa State University’s Extension to Community Economic Development. She has worked for and consulted with nonprofits for more than thirty years in rural and metropolitan areas. “It is a matter of reminding ourselves of what makes for a solid foundation for a plan and being prepared to stay on track. Nonprofits do critically important work in our communities. Iowa State University Extension wants to assist them to position themselves for the greatest success,” she states.

Due to the anticipated demand for this workshop, there is a limit of two participants per organization.  The cost for the workshop is free and includes all hand-out materials and a light meal. For more information or to register call ISU Greene County Extension office at 515.386.2138.
