Hospitality Training on April 25

Customer Service and Hospitality Training

Add value to your business through superior customer service. The focus of a free two hour training set for Tuesday April 25 will be to sharpen these skills and benefit Greene County front line employees and volunteers. The workshop will begin at 9:00 AM at the host site, the Greene County Historical Society.

The two hour interactive workshop will be limited, and will be offered through a grant from the Central Iowa Tourism Region by the Iowa Tourism Office/Iowa Economic Development Authority. Jane Goeken, ISU Extension Specialist, of Spencer will be teaching this session. Jane was part of the team to develop this original Tourism Customer Service program. She has a master’s degree in public administration and comes highly recommended by her sister, Greene County’s Jefferson Matters Main Street director, Peg Raney.

This energizing interactive session will emphasize to first line workers and staff they are the face of Greene County. Tips and welcoming techniques will be taught that will be useful in making visitors feel welcome, and wanting to return to Greene County.

Persons who are volunteers with tourism attractions in Greene County, or Board members of a tourist attraction will be welcomed. Priority reservations will be given to local restaurant wait staff, hotel clerks, and convenience store attendants.

A $25.00 Chamber Bucks door prize as well as additional prizes will be available for a drawing at the conclusion of the event.

This event is being co-sponsored by the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County, Jefferson Matters: Main Street, the Greene County Historical Society and the Greene County Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee. Interested persons may register by calling Mary Weaver at 515-360-8046 or emailing at mweaver235@gmail.com.
