Greene County Medical Center’s Employee Exemplifying Excellence Award Renamed to Honor Cornelis “Case” Van Zelderen

Cornelis “Case” Van Zelderen was named the 2019 Employee Exemplifying Excellence Award for upholding the Medical Center’s values and mission of being Always Here, Always Caring. A fellow employee stated when nominating Case for the award, “Case enhances the image of the Medical Center by kindly acknowledging all visitors, guests, co-workers and patients. He greets everyone with kindness, and pays attention to their questions and ensures that they feel welcome. Case promotes high patient satisfaction when transporting patients within the Medical Center by listening to their concerns.” Case worked at the Medical Center from 2008 – 2021 as an EVS tech and then transferred to a patient transporter before passing away unexpectedly in early 2021. This year, Greene County Medical Center will rename the award in honor of Case, to the Van Zelderen Excellence Award. This honor is given yearly to an employee who goes above and beyond to uphold the Medical Center’s Pride values of patient-centered care, respect, integrity, dedication and empathy. A welldeserving team member is chosen by fellow co-workers who review the nominations and choose the award winner who they feel made an outstanding contribution in the last year to enhancing patients’ experiences. Case portrayed the values of the Medical Center each and every day, and was well deserving of the honor, as were all award winners since the program began in 1979. The Medical Center offers all employees the opportunity to nominate a co-worker for the award, who they think enhances the image of the Medical Center and promotes the vision of being Always Here, Always Caring. The Van Zelderen Excellence Award ceremony will be in March at Greene County Medical Center. Please watch for further updates on the Medical Center Facebook page for virtual event information.
