Iowa Central Community College is offering a free Career Readiness class at the Greene County Career Academy in Jefferson in partnership with Greene County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Classes will be on February 22-24, 2022, from 4pm to 6pm in Room D-122 with free dinner provided.
This career readiness class will give adults information regarding how to inquire about jobs and how to write application letters, resumes, and interviewing skills. The class is being sponsored by McLaughlin Family Companies and Jefferson Telecom.
“This class is a great opportunity for anyone looking to polish their resume, practice interviewing, and clearly communicate in writing or orally,” said Jessica Kavanaugh, Career Services Coordinator at Iowa Central.
Students in this class will also have a chance to learn about concepts, tools, and strategies used to explore and obtain a job. On the last night of class, local businesses will conduct mock interviews with students to practice their new skills. Businesses supporting the class and participating in mock interviews are Heartland Bank, People’s Bank, American Athletic, Inc., Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, and Scranton Manufacturing/New Way Trucks.
“Students should expect to leave the class with a resume and interviewing skills,” Kavanaugh said.
