Foundation Golf – Perfect Day, Great Fundraiser and Celebration of Health Care Heroes

Foundation Director Nancy Houska couldn’t have asked for better weather for the Greene County Medical Center Foundation golf tournament held Friday, June 18, at the Jefferson Municipal Golf Course. Sunny skies, warm temperatures and 64 golfers made a perfect combination for fun and fundraising. Starting at 10:00 a.m., sixteen teams began with a shotgun start, followed by a boxed lunch provided
by Greene County Medical Center’s Nutrition department, and ending with a dinner catered by Bett & Bev’s BBQ; located in Jefferson. Hy-vee in Jefferson and the Iowa Hospital Association helped sponsor the dinner. Houska estimated over $16,500 was raised with sponsorships, team registrations, hole sponsorships and a putting contest. Contest winners were awarded a Yeti cooler, Stay & Play package from the Wildrose and prizes to the flight winners and hole contests. “We were honored to have our event again this year, after not being able to due host the event last year due to COVID-19. I couldn’t be more pleased with the level or sponsorships and the turnout of golf teams.” Houska noted, “This year’s golf fundraiser honored our Hospital Heroes for all the dedication and work they did during the pandemic and every day.”
The overall winning team was Home State Bank with team members Troy Ticknor, Marcus Mechaelsen, Noah Juergensen and Eric Hockenberry. Major sponsors included Drees Company of Carroll, Home State Bank, Landus Cooperative, Wildrose Casino, Bett & Bev’s BBQ, Iowa Hospital Association, Luzt Accounting; and UnityPoint Health – Des Moines.
