Historical Plaques in Downtown Jefferson

A self-guided tour around the historic district of Jefferson, Iowa will take you back in time. Many of Greene County’s notables are celebrated on bronze plaques found on each side of the square. Make sure you have your smartphone ready as each plaque has a QR code on it for even more information about these people, places and things that have made Greene County a great place to live and visit.

Two Historical Plaque Walks have brought to life each of the 10 plaques already in place and the seven nominees to be included.
