Why Not Us, LLC received notification they were awarded a Main Street Iowa Challenge grant back in the summer of 2020. After several bumps along with the way, such as Covid and a change of restaurant ownership, the organization is well on their way of renovating the building now called The Centennial at 100 E State. Jefferson Matters: A Main Street & Chamber Executive Director Beth Vander Wilt presented several Why Not Us board members with their first check of $45,000 towards their project. Board members pictured are Jacque Andrew, Debra McGinn and Peg Raney. The remaining $30,000 of the $75,000 Challenge Grant will be presented when the project is completed. Renovation continues with plans to open the doors of the first-floor restaurant by the Bell Tower Festival weekend of June 10-11.
