Sally’s Alley Dedication On June 7

The Tower View Team of Jefferson Matters: Main Street will hold a dedication ceremony for Sally’s Alley on Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m. on the south side of the Square in downtown Jefferson.

The event will get underway with the Prairie Blue Creative Arts dance students performing to “Rockin’ Robin,” on the Bell Tower plaza. The ceremony to dedicate the alley to the photography of the late Sally White, author of Sally’s Backyard Bird, will follow at the entryway to the alley on the south side of East Lincoln Way.

Bird naturalist Matt Wetrich will have a special youth-oriented program about birds on the south side of the courthouse after the brief dedication ceremony. Wetrich, a Jefferson resident, is a naturalist with the Carroll County Conservation Board. He served in an advisory capacity to White as she assembled her bird photos in the 126-page four-color book.

Invitations were extended by Tower View Team to area school children to visit the Square and learn more about birds from Wetrich, vice president of the Iowa Association of Naturalists.
