Iowa Great Place designation

Work on an application to be a designated Iowa Great Place continues.  Greene County Development Corporation has agreed to be the applicant with Greene County as the designation.  The Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson Matters: Main Street, Thomas Jefferson Gardens and Greene County communities are working together with Region XII Council of Government’s Lauren Subler to write the application that is due on May 1.  A site visit in late June is also a part of this process.

After an Iowa Great Place designation is awarded, funding for one project over the 5 year period is a big opportunity.  The project needs to come from the Vision 2020 process led by Zach Mannheimer in the past year.  Several great concepts from that visioning have been earmarked by the committee.
