Greene County Medical Center Makes Significant Investment in Staff and the Community

Since 1937, Greene County Medical Center has proudly served Jefferson and the surrounding communities with a local option for primary care, around-the-clock emergency services, specialty care, public health and more. Now in our eighth decade, we are building on our Always Here, Always Caring pledge by “Investing in You.”

The centerpiece of this commitment is an investment in our staff. We have recently implemented a new salary and benefits structure that establishes a $15 an hour minimum wage. At the same time, those currently earning a wage in the range of $15 an hour have received a special pay increase, and a significant merit increase has been provided to all eligible employees.

“As the largest employer in the county, this means that our investment in our staff will have a direct impact on the economy of Jefferson and surrounding Greene County communities,” says Brian Benson, Interim Chief Executive Officer.

While the salary increases will benefit the financial health of the community, they are also designed to have a meaningful impact on the individuals who make the exceptional care delivered at Greene County Medical Center possible.

“This is an adjustment that goes beyond a typical salary increase,” says Chief Medical Officer Laurie Connolly, M.D. “We know there is a strong tie between a person’s financial health and overall health and well-being. Recognizing and embracing this connection is one of many steps towards building healthier workplaces and, by extension, healthier communities.”

The updated and upgraded pay and benefits package also cements Greene County Medical Center’s reputation as one of the leading employers in the region.

“Our emphasis on compensation further positions Greene County Medical Center to stand out in an increasingly competitive regional job market,” says Chief Financial Officer Chad Butterfield. “Our priority is always attracting and retaining high-quality talent that delivers on our mission of continuing to be Always Here, Always Caring for our communities for generations to come.”

The new pay and benefits structure went into effect on July 4. In addition to the generous pay package, eligible Greene County Medical Center employees receive IPERS retirement benefits, a generous paid time off plan, options for competitive health insurance plans, health savings account, medical center supported educational opportunities, and much more.

Greene County Medical Center is the primary healthcare provider in the region, delivering 24/7 emergency services, an on-site helipad, a full-service primary care clinic, inpatient services, public health, skilled care and long-term care. Greene County Medical Center also offers an array of specialty services, on-site lab, imaging and pharmacy, rehabilitation services and more.
