DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to attend the annual Party in the Alley on June 1 from 5-7 p.m. This year the alley will be on the north side of the square to kick off another alley project – Arch Alley.  Light refreshments will be served while alumni artist David Williamson will be on hand to talk about the project that will span over the next few years.  Another local artist\, Tony Sims will be there as this year’s artist for the public painted piano which has been called Rockin’ to RAGBRAI.  The piano will be located near the Bell Tower for the public to view and play.  This event is hosted by the Tower View Team and the Promotions committee of Jefferson Matters: Main Street. \n“I’m a Part of the Arch” limited edition buttons will be sold for $20 to help in fundraising for the alley project.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Volunteer Appreciation and Recognition Party will take on a HomeTown Team theme this year on Wednesday\, Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at Meythaler Photography.  The Organization Committee is hosting this event for all volunteers\, their spouses/partners/guests to thank them for their hard work in 2017.  Each committee has been asked to select a volunteer to be recognized for their work this past year.  The Jefferson Matters: Main Street Board of Directors will also announce their Leadership Award winner who will also be honored at the Main Street Iowa Awards on April 13 at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines.  Refreshments will be served and socializing with others will be the plan.  Come and join in this special event.
