The Community Development Block Grant for Downtown Revitalization is beginning to move forward with meetings with the building owners and architect Pete Franks.
On Tuesday, Sept. 27, Franks spoke to the 30 people attending an information meeting to review what has happened thus far and what the future plans are. Each of the 16 building owners met individually with Pete and project managers Mike Palmer and Nick Sorensen on Wednesday, Sept. 28 to discuss their designs. Jefferson Matters: Main Street program director Peg Raney will serve as communications liaison through the project. A Block grant committee consisting of City representatives, Main Street representatives and downtown retailers will oversee this grant.
Franks and his team will work throughout the fall with the owners to finalize their design before Christmas. Construction bids will go out in January – February with construction likely to begin in early April. Plans to complete this downtown renovation project are scheduled for August.
